Release of Solar

It's been an interesting two weeks since the launch of Solar. First we'd like to say thanks to everyone who helped with the production of the film. Our friends and family, our lecturers (especially Roger Rosa), and Adam Laurie. Not to mention the great guys in Skoud and Molia Falls for letting us loose on their tracks for the film and our making-of.

We've had an unbelievable response from the launch and want to say a massive thanks to everyone who has supported, plugged or published us since. Overwhelmingly, Solar has been featured on the front page of 3DTotal, Dailymotion, TheFWA and Motionographer. All being well the next issues of Computer Arts, Creative Review, Digital Arts and Stash magazines are going to have features too, keep an eye out for them.

Technically we are both still on our much needed holidays so we'll post updates about Solar and what we get up to shortly. We certainly weren't expecting all this so we really appreciate all the comments, emails and support from people. Really made the 7 or 8 months (we lose track) of production worth-while.

Dear Ian and Edward:
How's it going? My name's Matt Parks and I'm the director of a short film and video festival to be held in New Brunswick, Canada this fall.
I just watched your short "Solar" on niceshorts.com.au and I liked it a lot. I thought it was really creative and well made.
I was wondering if you would be interested in entering your work in our festival. There are no entry fees and with the originality and quality of your video, acceptance is basically guaranteed.
Please check out our web site (www.stgeorgefilmfest.com) and let me know as soon as you can. I would really like to show this short if I could. I think the audience would really enjoy it.
Cheers,
Matt Parks
Director
St. George Short Film and Video Festival

One of the best pieces of independent animations I've seen since "The Elephant's Dream" came out last year.
Good job!
